| | Rob Zombie hoped this film would become an instant cult-classic. Sorry, Rob, I'm not sure it is going to achieve that status as quickly as you had thought. The film was disgusting and freaky enough to view more than once, every few Halloweens, perhaps. That's about it.
We never took the initiative to see this film in it's limited theater showing, which might have given me a better impression of the film overall. It is worth renting, though. I found Zombie's real life girlfriend to be a very nice addition to the movie, she is down-right evil and quite sexy while doing so. I felt the movie reached the point of being anti-climatic and it eventually became a corpse in it's own house.

| | I am actually writing this review a few hours before seeing the sequel. Honestly, this movie was not very good at all. But the main protaganist in this series is amusing, disgusting, and fun. Yay. I never saw this first one in the theater, but I caught it on digital cable. We also rented it a few weeks ago for everyone else to see. Give it a try.
And, you just can't beat that theme song, now can you? "Jeepers... creepers... where'd you get those..."

| | The movie sucked -- but it successfully held my attention for most of the 95 minutes. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it being filmed on a low budget or that the movie was created in Spain. The problem is, just because a film is based on space and Mars, it doesn't give anyone the right to make a poor quality movie. Supposedly the studio created the film with a budget under $4 million. But, come on... the audio dubbing wasn't even right.
The ending alludes to the same type of plot finale that many other films of this nature lead to. And it did -- boring. No original creative thought. On the other hand, I give the film credit when it comes to the cinematography... some of it was quite good and even entertaining. This movie might possibly deserve a 3 out of 5 rating... but only if the low budget factor is taken into account when making comparisons to other flicks. Avoid renting this DVD, wait until it is on HBO or Showtime. Here's hoping they are even willing to carry it.

| | This movie lacked action and a few other things that we normally look for in a movie. What ever components are missing though, are made up for with a great story and a few things that give it an almost Fight-Club-Vibe. Which is an excellent thing to have going for a movie.
Not worth purchasing though, it is best to rent it, or rent it for a night via digital broadband cable; like I did. I'd rather watch Fight Club again, though.

| | In reality, this movie didn't actually suck so much as it did just suffer from Adam Sandler being thrusted into the main role. The cinematography, interesting/random incidents (a la Adaptation), kept the movie amusing and provocative. Adam Sandler, on the other hand, caused me to wonder when the punch line or hilarious event was going to take place.
Perhaps it is nice for a movie to not typecast Sandler, but it was a mistake for this movie -- as almost any other serious actor would have probably done more. I also kept thinking of his character from Little Nicky, which, totally threw my concentration on the main character completely out the window. Actually, now that I think about it, quite a few of the actors cast in this film have me questioning whether or not the casting director even knew what the hell he/she was doing!

| | Chris Teeters picked up the SuperBit Edition of XXX on DVD and we watched it on his new DLP Projector / DTS Sound setup. Perhaps that is what caused me to rate it 4 out of 5. On the other hand, it is also a decent action movie and is much more fast-paced and bad-ass than James Bond flicks. It is also rare for a movie to hold attention for more than one viewing.
SuperBit is definately better, but once you start getting into the movie you might hardly notice a difference.

| | Um, decent movie. Felt a bit long though.
Spike Lee kinda filled up the empty movie space with filler that wasn't needed. I think the eulogy-feeling for Septemeber 11th was a bit over-played as well.
That is not something a movie of our time should focus on, especially when the main character is a piece of trash in the movie's fiction.
